Dr. Berger

Dara S. Berger has worked in reproductive medicine since 2009 and has served as an IVF laboratory director since 2014. She is an expert in building, managing, and optimizing IVF laboratories, with experience in staffing, workflow design, and regulatory compliance.   Dr. Berger holds a High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) certificate from the American Board of Bioanalysis and is well-versed in College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation requirements, CLIA compliance, and laboratory quality management systems. She has directed embryology, andrology, and endocrinology laboratories at academic and private practice clinics, including the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Fertility Care and Illume Fertility in Norwalk, Connecticut.   In addition to her leadership in laboratory operations, Dr. Berger has a strong research background. She earned her PhD in human genetics from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She has contributed to research projects at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, UNC Fertility, and Penn Fertility Care, and continues to integrate research into clinical practice.   Dr. Berger is also passionate about education and workforce development. She has trained REI fellows, residents, and medical students, and in 2023 established a cooperative education program for undergraduate Drexel University students in IVF laboratories.   With a unique combination of scientific expertise, operational leadership, CAP compliance knowledge, and staffing experience, Dr. Berger helps design and run state-of-the-art IVF laboratories that deliver both operational excellence and exceptional patient care.
