Dr. Celia

Dr. Gerry Celia, a multidisciplinary leader with experience in construction, design, mechanics, and physiology, brings over 30 years of scientific and more than 20 years of clinical experience to the coLABorartive. Gerry has worked with groups throughout North and Central America to design, update, and credential state-of-the-art reproductive laboratories. It was this experience, along with the growing complexity of the reproductive space, that led he and his colleagues to form the coLABorative, realizing that no matter how effective a single individual can be, a team of experts has exponentially more experience, energy, and resources to bring to any challenge presented. Gerry discovered his interest in reproductive physiology while breeding show horses on his parents’ farm in the 1980s. This led to a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut and a doctorate in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Vermont. He entered the clinical IVF in 2005, becoming a high complexity laboratory director (HCLD) in 2009. Gerry has served as the president of the College of Reproductive Biology, President of the Society of Reproductive Biologists and Technologists, and as a board member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. He has advisory roles with several prominent international corporations, and in 2023 he earned his MBA from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary. His desire to bring excellence to clinical reproductive care motivates him to pursue continued involvement in this space. He currently holds positions as Laboratory Director for the fertility programs at Virginia Commonwealth University and Women and Infants Hospital/Brown University, and is the executive director for Pacific Fertility Centers of Los Angeles. When he is not working, Gerry Celia spends his time either in the barn with his horses, modifying his Jeep, snowboarding, sailing, or pursuing new adventures with his wife and young son.
