Dr. Charlene Alouf brings nearly three decades of experience in assisted reproductive technology (ART) to coLABorative, specializing in laboratory direction, design/build, quality management, and regulatory compliance. She currently serves as Laboratory Director for the South Jersey Fertility Center network of laboratories and as Consulting Laboratory Director for California Fertility Clinic in Los Angeles. In addition, she oversees the Genomic Prediction LifeView laboratory in New Jersey, supported by 8 years of specialized experience in preimplantation genetic testing. Dr. Alouf earned her doctoral degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology from Albany Medical College (AMC), where her research explored follicular regulatory mechanisms within the ovary. She continued at AMC to complete a clinical fellowship in both the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Department of Pathology. She later obtained her New York State laboratory license and became Laboratory Director at the Fertility Center, marking the beginning of an accomplished 25+ year directorship career. Licensed in both New York and New Jersey, Dr. Alouf has worked extensively from coast to coast to ensure laboratories meet and exceed all regulatory and accreditation requirements. She is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), the College of Reproductive Biology, and the New York Metropolitan Embryology Society. She also co-founded PEARLS, the Philadelphia-based professional network for reproductive laboratory specialists, alongside Dr. Berger. In 2022, Dr. Alouf completed her Master of Business Administration at the University of Delaware, strengthening her expertise in laboratory operations, leadership, and strategic development. Nationally recognized for her mentorship, she is deeply involved in training the next generation of embryologists, laboratory directors, and leaders in reproductive medicine. When asked of her commitment to the space, Dr Alouf responds, “After nearly 30 years in reproductive science and laboratory leadership, I’m focused on building innovative, compliant, and future-proof IVF labs across the country. My goal is to transform the ART landscape by empowering new directors, improving laboratory quality, and delivering laboratory solutions that match the pace of modern reproductive medicine.” Outside the laboratory, Charlene brings her keen attention to detail to entertaining and is a gourmet chef. She is also an avid Porsche enthusiast. When not advancing reproductive science, Dr. Alouf is often found tracking her Cayman at Pocono Raceway or NJ Motorsports Park.
